Recent Recipients of ALEA Awards The Australian Literacy Educators’ Association wishes to recognise service to the Association and the pursuit of excellence in literacy education in Australia. One of the most tangible ways of achieving this recognition is through the presentation of awards. At the 2005 National ALEA/AATE Conference on the Gold Coast, the following four awards were presented -
Dr Heather Fehring - ALEA Medal
Maureen Morriss - ALEA Medal
Lorraine Wilson - ALEA Citation of Merit Award for Literacy (The Garth Boomer Award)
Lorraine Hennesey - Life Membership

At the 2007 National ALEA/AATE National Conference in Canberra the ALEA Medal was presented to Dawn Haynes in recognition of the major contribution Dawn has made to ALEA and in particular to ALEA in Queensland. The picture below shows Dawn with the ALEA President, Dr Jan Turbill, after receiving her award.
