Being Involved
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO TO BE INVOLVED?
Now: Tell all your colleagues about National Reading Day!
From August:
-
Explore this website so you can plan your involvement.
-
Decide whether you will have a whole school event, or just get involved as a single class ... or something in between.
-
Try out the links to the publisher and author web sites.
-
Read the activities provided and decide if you want to use them; on the day, as an extended activity over a week, or starting from now.
-
Plan the events you think are most suitable for National Reading Day.
During National Literacy and Numeracy Week, 3-9 September:
-
Read one of the recommended books with your class!
-
Watch the podcasts which will be available on this website on National Reading Day: 5th September.
-
Hold events which will involve your school (or class) on National Reading Day.
-
You may like to invite your federal MP to attend an event at your school.
Before 9pm on 14th September:
Submit information about your school’s involvement in National Reading Day on-line using the on-line participation form. You will then be entered into a draw for the chance to win one of two libraries of books for your school, provided by Scholastic Australia. Each library will contain 500 books!
The winners will be advised by email on the 18th September and the results will be posted on this website.
For more information refer to the competition’s
Terms and Conditions.
Monday 10th September and beyond:
Continue to use the activities for each National Reading Day book.
The activities will remain available from this website until the end of the school year.
National Reading Day is funded by the Australian Government
Department of Education, Science and Training
